THE HEART AND FURY OF THE NEXT GENERATION SUPERYACHT.

The Acapulco 55 concept you see here is the vision of Christian Grande Designs. An aggressive concept for the future of motoryachts that holds no secret aces; it’s intent is loud, clear and bewildering. Perhaps naming this mechanical leviathan after a Mexican coastal city does not do it much of a favor, but then again, it is Mexico’s most violent city. And the Acapulco 55 just seems like it might be ideal for crushing tiny schooners and leaving their remains in its wake. Styled with muscular and tight lines the Acapulco 55 is made for the kind of owner who is looking for speed and exhilaration, highlighted by the poised bow and the hull’s black colouring amidships. The notion of future technologies always connotes some kind of refined power and the sporty and dynamic design of the Acapulco concept utilises aerodynamics in order to free the yacht of any superfluous elements. Bow anchors are hidden inside sleek housings, keeping the freeboard clean and aerodynamic. The Acapulco should have a cruising speed of about 28 knots and a maximum speed of about 32 knots. Propulsion elements are yet to be decided, but if she swims the way she looks, she should be a racy companion for any petrolhead seeking to make tarmac of the water.

As this concept is all about styling it is not without innovation. The passage from the main deck to the sun deck is a rigid black skeleton surrounded by white leather-like skin. This leads to a sun deck with a bar and shower. Christian Grande regards this as a tribute to last century’s ships with their huge funnels. The foredeck is entirely clear and uncluttered, providing freedom for pretty much anything when you are speeding across the ocean. This recreational take on the foredeck, including a private swimming pool, was conceived to be different from traditional yachts. The interior is furnished in the typical manner; rich finishes, vibrant detail and luxurious furniture. The Acapulco also features many color and material contrasts, darky shiny surfaces alternating with clear matte elm flooring. Some of the interior finishes have also been made to allude to old steamer trunks, like the round fittings and handles. Christian Grande may be one of the youngest Italian yacht designers but he has won multiple awards since his first creations for Sessa Marine in 1992. If they do end up putting the Acapulco 55 into production, we believe it must be the start of a new age for elegant and powerful motoryachts.
